On New Years Weekend 2012, I had the distinct pleasure of Emceeing and DJing the brand new “Fat Bar” on the strip. Located directly across the street from the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino. The “Fat Bar” is a new venture that was just purchased and is going to be built out to an outdoor spot on the strip that would rival others like Carnival Court, PBR Rock bar, etc. But this one is attached to a Fat Burger. I have seen the designer’s mock up drawings, and it is going to be epic… Since the construction is not underway yet, the owner and managers really put some serious effort into making the best of this location for the...

Last week I got to Emcee/host the Mickey Avalon concert. What a trip. First off, I was hosting with Tiffany Masters. She runs a modeling / entertainment agency called cabana candy. It is her job to host events, and bring a pack of hot young ladies. And I thought my job was awesome!…. Hosting with Tiffany was great. She provided the give and take balance to the mic work, so it wasnt just me yelling at a big crowd to get them going. She brought in her entourage of MTV reality personalities, beautiful young women, and BJ Penn the local fighter done good. Was a great event to run! As far as Mickey’s show goes – here are my...

So I am just now getting around to write a little blog about this event. It has been going on for weeks, and I have just been too busy! In a nutshell, Monday Night Rocks Concert Series is a free rock concert event put on by the good folks at the Crown Theater inside the RIO. Every Monday Night, there is a free concert with national headline acts performing on stage. And to top it off, you can get $2 beer drafts for the first hour. Here is an example flyer: I have both DJ’d and Emceed this event. Spinning Rock N Roll excitement to concert crowds, and hitting the mic from main center stage to get the people...

Novation Dicers review

novation-dicer

So I am about 4-5 weeks into using my Novation Dicers. And without beating around the bush, let me just say that If you are a Serato Scratch Live DJ, these are absolutely mandatory. I can’t even imagine going back to spinning without them. In a nutshell, they are a pair of small midi devices made specifically to run with Serato Scratch Live. Everything about these add-ons was designed and executed well. For us vinyl DJs they sit right into the corners of the decks with a male piece on the bottom of the dicers that slide directly into the 45 adapter slot on your Technics or other. If you run CDJs or off laptop only, you can use...

Friday Night Fights!

hosting Friday Night Fights!

Last night I hosted Friday Night Fights at the Crown Theater inside the Rio All suites hotel and casino. I had missed the first installment of the event, so it was a treat to be able to not only be there to watch the lineup of fights, but to announce promotions from the ring! It was quite funny actually, trying to see me and my giant body get through the ropes… I took some advice from the professionals, “push down on the blue one and lift up the white one” and was able to get myself in without difficulty. Big thanks to Chuck Riccio for opening the ropes most of the time for me haha All in all the...
